This project was to promote a book in the Penguin library. I chose a book dealing with the residents, staff, and life within an insane asylum. I chose ink and glass as two of the primary materials in my footage. The ink serves as a more literal Rorschach test tie in, while the glass becomes a metaphor for the patients. The glass remains calm and clear until the breaking point, where it shatters. The two materials chosen also give the footage itself contrast, with the bold darks of the ink standing out clearly from the glass. The rest of the footage is primarily medical in nature. The footage was also distorted from its original state, and features flashes of type and illustrations. All of the these illustrations were done by hand, scrawled out quickly, frantic. I wanted the writing to give a sense of danger, as if the writer truly believed something bad was going on inside the asylum.
